The Amarillo Youth Hockey Association (AHAI) is proud to announce that we will be participating in the Southwest Select Hockey Series (SWSHS) for the 2012-2013 season. Amarillo will be competing with a West Texas Pee Wee team devised of players from Amarillo, Odessa, San Angelo and Wichita Falls.
The Amarillo Hockey Association is a rapidly growing program that is feeding off of the success of the Amarillo Bulls of the North American Hockey League.
"We have been searching all over for the necessary competition, to provide a platform for West Texas born players to develop the abilities to one day play in the top leagues that USA Hockey has to offer," explains Austin Sutter, Program Director. "The SWSHS provides exactly what we were searching for. The ultimate goal is to provide our players the chance to use hockey as a tool to further their education as they progress in their hockey careers."
Amarillo is home to the North American Hockey League's (NAHL) Organization of the Year, The Amarillo Bulls. The Bulls have moved over 13 players onto NCAA hockey programs over their short two years in the NAHL.
“I am so excited to be involved with SWSHS this season,” says Sutter. “We are working toward hosting SWSHS tournaments in Amarillo, as we continue to build our program.”
